Hermann “Tiger” Gerland – Der Letzte seiner Art
Hermann “Tiger” Gerland is one of a kind, a true child of the Bundesliga. After 50 years in professional football, his journey in the football circus has officially come to an end. Gerland was a tough defender and coach in his hometown of Bochum, a “talent developer” at FC Bayern who helped shape World Cup winners such as Philipp Lahm and Mats Hummels, and later an assistant coach under greats like Pep Guardiola and Jupp Heynckes. The documentary follows Gerland and his wife Gudrun up close on the road to his official farewell by the German FA, travels with him back to his former home ground at the Ruhrstadion, and joins him on the way to get a currywurst in Bochum’s Bermudadreieck.
